Visual Cultures: Aesthetics of the Digital

I am going to be a Graduate Student Instructor for this course at UC Berkeley. These talks take place on Thursdays at Noon are FREE and open to the public.

Featuring talks by: Isaac Julien, Isabella Kirkland, Ariana Schindler, Tiare Ribeaux, Purin Phanichphant, Trevor McFedries, Jenny Odell and more!

Curated by Greg Niemeyer, professor in UC Berkeley’s Department of Art Practice, this webinar series will focus on the interactions between image, mind, and society. The creation, delivery, and interpretation of visual experiences are defined by physical, physiological, and social conditions, which together form visual cultures. These cultures shape what we see, how we see, what we look for, and what we make to look at. They also shape what we don’t see, and what we hide. Themes and topics will include: animals, patterns, avatars, maps, and attention. Presenters reflect a diverse range of cultural and creative backgrounds. For more information and updates, visit artsdesign.berkeley.edu.

Free and open to the public; online only.
