This workshop will be taking place online via Zoom on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 from 6:00pm - 8:00pm PST and will be co-facilitated by Yunuen Rhi and Edgar Fabián Frías, and will be a unique offering bringing together their many years of collaborative creative and relational exploration as well as their decades worth of research and pedagogical practices in the fields of anthropology, metaphysics, psychotherapy, somatic practices, indigenous epistemologies, and contemporary art practices; to name a few. Both Yunuen and Edgar want to name that this work is a part of a sacred lineage of practices that have been handed down many generations through oral and relational traditions.
In this workshop attendees will be able to have a direct and embodied experience of exploring a concept of their choosing. Yunuen and Edgar will be providing prompts and guidance to support attendees in divining and choosing their concept to embody. After one is chosen, the group will move into a Huarache Constellation (more information below) and collectively explore their concepts through movement, meditative awareness, and embodied play.
After this experience, the group will have time to share their experiences and weave a shared narrative together of our group Constellation.
The Huarache Constellation is a collective self-healing and medium methodology developed by Yunuen Rhi at PAM performance art residency in Los Angeles (LA) in November of 2017. The dynamic is inspired by Maria Sabina’s Poetics, Mazateca-Mexican priestess of the mushrooms, and by Family Constellation Work, activated through a movement group interrelation.
Participants will get to work deeply and explore through movement, collective interaction and medicine work an idea or a character they choose to explore and understand from their studies or life experience.
