AngelUS, 2017
Research-Based Social Practice project commissioned by Machine Project and the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks. Edgar Fabián Frías collaborated on four rituals during a daylong event at Echo Park in Los Angeles, California which took place on March 15, 2017. Incorporating ancient divination techniques, synthesized sounds, research-based social engagement, the geomapping of their face onto the statue of the Lady of the Lake, and a socially immersive final performance. Inspired by the sacred femme legacies of Echo Park Lake and the surrounding areas, Frías sought to incorporate these herstories into this project.
This performance is made possible in part by a grant from the City of Los Angeles, Department of Cultural Affairs.
