Creative Projects

Salvadoran performance artist and activist Alexia Miranda brought together festival artist, Edgar Fabian Frias and artists Denise Uyehara, Jessica Fairfax Hirst, Eliu Almonte, and Francisco Huguet in a sonic community to create a collective, global voice in a world fractured by conflict. Memoria Sonora is a participatory musical and ritual performance for a group of artists arranged in a large circle in an outdoor location. A composed score of music and spoken word is the basis for an improvised collective work, using sound as a language of vibration and a momentarily shared consciousness. This score took place at El Pueblo de Los Angeles Plaza at La Plaza Olvera in Downtown Los Angeles, California. Part of this CalArts REDCAT's Pacific Standard Time Festival: Live Art LA/LA, an initiative of The Getty. Documentation by Stephen Gunther.
